Friends

So, here I am at home. Chillin' on a Sunday. Sitting at the computer, and not getting my "to do" list done at all. :) Well, okay, I've got a couple of things on my list done, but I've officially lost my steam. So while I was reading all the new blogs from my friends from the past week, I felt inspired to write my own. Just a little life update for all you out there.
After a step back from a friend "burn" in August, I've been able to step back and realize how important it is to have friends in your life that are as important to you as you are to them. I have many friends in my life that I can credit for a lot of support and love over the years. Whether they are an old friend, a new friend, or a re-discovered friend, they've all played in integral part in making me the Emily that I am today.
So here's to new friends, old friends, and found friends...may we all continue on a happy path to best friends.

Rooms

So, i'm sure that most of you know that I'm officially a domestic goddess at home. That involves many things that I love to do. Cook, vaccum, and no I'm not being sarcastic. Vaccumming is so relaxing to me, who knew??? I have also had the opportunity to do some improvements to the house a little at a time. So far, I've got white on all the walls, except for a couple of spots on the ceiling, and Jeremie helped with that alot. It's amazing how many coats you have to put on til the tar stains stop coming through. I officially have a red room. I've always wanted a red room, and now I have one. I'll tell you what else...I'm never painting with red paint as the main color ever again. It was so hard to cover with, and it probably didn't help that I picked the color that could only be put into the super expensive awesome paint, that we needed two gallons of, and I could still probably put on another coat, if I was feeling froggy. (how's that for an incredibly long run-on sentence) I made the curtains home made, all by myself. The red room is our guest room, and yes ladies that is Edward hanging on the wall. Who wants to come and visit? The only thing that is left is finding a pure black bedspread...surprisingly hard to find. This is the first room that is "officially" done. Enjoy the pics.

The Nuptials part dos

So, I maybe should have finished off with the other blog post...however, i was super tired, and so let's continue.
Of course leave it to the girls to have the wardrobe malfunctions. My mother got hairspray on her 100% silk shirt, so the only thing to do to make the spots go away was to get it all wet, with 15 minutes to go, and then throw it in the dryer. Then hair started to go flat, then Brendan didn't want to leave his hat on, and on on on...We made it though, and only 10 minutes late.
Our ceremony was only about 10 minutes long, including the walk, and we got to kiss twice. It was totally super awesome. Everyone looked so beautiful/handsome. We spent about a half hour standing in line and thanking all our guests for coming. We saw old friends, new friends, and good friends. Then came the pictures!!! I love my pics, they are exactly what I was looking for. We did all of the poses that everyone does, and then we did some more. They are going to be great to look back on with our children one day, and remember all the good times.
Then the reception started and Jeremie and I spent most of our time mingling with our guests. I hear that the food was wonderful, and the cake was great. We cut the cake, and I smashed cake in Jeremie's face twice. We threw the bouquet, and the garter, and then about five minutes before the official end of the day, we drove off in our cute rental car, to the Hilton downtown, and had McDonald's, and the rest is history.
After all of the hub bub and frustration and long nights and planning. We had an amazing wedding and I couldn't ask for anything more. I married the man of my dreams, and we ARE going to live happily ever after.

The Nuptials

So, I made the trip to Salt Lake, about 13 days before the wedding, to find that the final preparations were being put into place, and everything seemed right on time. It seemed that Mom might've been a little freaked out, but I like to think that we kept each other balanced throughout the process. Stanley spent the weekend before the wedding putting new tile in the entry way of the house, and even though we were a little worried, it turned out wonderful, and cleaned up before the wedding. Hooray! I spent alot of my time, making sure that the house was clean and that things were organized, oh yeah, and getting my bridal pictures taken. We picked up my dress the day after I arrived, and promptly pranced me out around town to get pictures done. Mom is crazy good with PhotoShop and she spent a couple of days non-stop editing pictures so that we could display them at the wedding.
Although Jeremie and I only spent about 6 days away from each other it seemed like a lifetime. He flew in the Monday before the wedding super late, and I surprised him by meeting him at the airport all dolled up, even though we were getting a rental car. We spent the next two days doing all the boring mundane tasks that no one wants to do, and get left for the very end. Jeremie did things like clean paint chips out of the dirt, and paint over the grafitti. I did things like wash all the sheets in the "guest rooms", and clean all the red clay grout of the floor. On Wednesday we went to the city county building and got the marriage license. On Thursday, Jeremie's family flew in and things kicked into high gear. We went hardcore on the decorating, and the getting ready for the events.
Me and most of the girls went and got our nails, and our toes done. We even went all out and got our eyebrows waxed. All the girls got cute decorations, and even mom got jewels on her fingernails. We got all the chairs and tables from the church, decorated with all the flowers, and got most of the backyard set up. About a half hour before we started the rehearsal, we got a phone call that said we did have someone to marry us. It was a little iffy there for a while, i was exploring how long it takes to get a minister license online. Yeah it was like that.
We had the rehearsal, and then the dinner, for a little relaxing time, and then went home and checked all the lights, and did some more decorating. Then our friend, and soon to be room mate, Meris, flew in earlier than we expected. So, Jeremie and I hurried to the airport to get her. Thankfully, mom lives only about 15 minutes away, so about the time that it takes to get off the plane and get your baggage. Of course, Meris didn't check any bags, bless her cute little heart, so we weren't there to meet her outside the terminal. :) We all ended up passing out pretty late that night, but all felt good about what we had accomplished.
Saturday morning dawned, and superstition be damned, Jeremie and I saw each other. I decided that since we were having an evening wedding, we couldn't be in the same house, and not see each other. I sent him golfing with Elliott, Stan, and The Dallas, hoping to relax him, when i should've been the one relaxing. We finished decorating, getting everything set up, getting the hairs done, and then it was time for everyone to get ready. I got ready upstairs, and Jeremie got ready downstairs. While we were doing that, all of our guests showed up for the wedding.

The upcoming nuptials

So, as of tomorrow we are officially at the two week countdown. While I know that there are many many projects going on at mom's house, there are quite a few going on here as well. I finally got all of the invitations mailed out, with the exception of two. HOORAY!!!! I officially completed Amber's bridesmaid dress. That was super fun. Let's just hope that I put the zipper in right, and that it fits the way that it's supposed to. We'll see on Sunday when I see her next, and make her put it on. It does look super fantastic on the hangar though. After many trips to either James City County, or the Lynnhaven area, we finally got Jeremie's honor guard uniform ready, and he looks so good. It's so pretty, now I know why I'm marrying a fireman. No, no I kid.
A couple of weekends ago, me, Amber, mom Gibbs, and Aunt Theresa went shopping to find mom a new outfit for the wedding. It's so pretty, I think she might outdo me. But we had to hem the pants, cause she's a shorty like me. It's great that I fit in height wise though.
We are also spending a lot of time getting the yard ready for the "informal reception" that we are hosting at our house the second weekend of June for all of our family and friends that aren't going to be able to attend the actual wedding. Jeremie aerated the whole yard, and then our neighbor let us borrow one of his ride on mowers, and let Jeremie use the other one to get it all mowed. We do have a ride on mower, but it's not working, so it looks pretty in the yard. I think that Jeremie is hoping that someone will just come and take it, but when you live next door to, and across the street from the law, people probably don't just drive by and take things. Then we put down grass seed in the front yard, to try to choke out all the weeds that live there. The grass seed is supposed to be watered three to four times a day until it starts to sprout, but as soon as we put it down, it started to rain...and rain...and rain...and rain... Today is the first day of the week that it hasn't rained...yet. But I guess I shouldn't complain to much, cause we saved a bundle on the water bill, not having to water the lawn.

So that's the fun times that we're having here in Virginia, looking forward to the fun times we're going to have in Salt Lake next week. I'll keep you posted.

It's warm outside!!!

So we had our first really warm sunny weekend. It wasn't raining or snowing (like in Salt Lake), or anything. Just really pretty. For all of you who don't know we have some FUGLY bushes around the front and the side of the house. For a while now it's been, let's cut those bushes down, or those bushes have got to go, alas without sunny, and nice weather, yardwork is a no go. Well, they finally did go. Now instead of fugly bushes, we have no bushes, and I started to put in a small garden. This year, I don't really have the time, or the tools to put in a big garden, so I'm doing a little one off the side of the house. Well, it was decided that it should go where the fugly bushes are no longer. Let me tell you how much fun it is to put in a garden, on a piece of land that was previously the home of the fugly bushes, and some very convincing weeds, with a shovel, and some gardening tools. Next year, I'm going tiller all the way. This shit is ridiculous.
Having said that garden day two did prove extremely more fruitul than garden day one, and now it actually looks like I've done something with it. It took some hard work, but I'm extremely hopeful that we'll get some fresh veggies this year, and have experience when we put in a big garden next year. I also should give credit where credit is due and say that I didn't have anything to do with the actual cutting down of the bushes. Just the digging out of the horrible root system. The cutting down was handled by my two man team, Jeremie and Erik. Good job guys!!! And Erik thought that he was just going to come over and hang out, he he he!
Needless to say, it has been a great weekend, lots of hard work. The house is looking better every day, and we're making our own food. Oh yeah, and I got a nice sunburn to start the year off right. I just hope that it fades by Thursday, so that when I go to Salt Lake for my visit, I don't look like a ripe tomatoe (which I haven't planted yet, but plan to do so). Tomorrow it's more gardening, and a trip to the dump to dispose of the fugly bushes forever.

The smell of newness

So, after much soul searching, and not being able to talk to people that speak english at sprint, Jeremie and I have officially joined the Verizon network. I just have one thing to say. "Can you hear me now?"
Today after the purchase of our new totally awesome phones we pretty much spent the afternoon playing with them. Jeremie got a Krave, and I got a Voyager. Let me just say that there is nothing better in this world than a Qwerty keyboard attatched to your phone. I absolutely love my keyboard. Love it.
I thought that the purchase of the kitchen table was a big step towards our new life, but I was wrong. Now we have a shared cell phone plan. It's practically official. It's like all we're waiting for is the pretty dress, and the piece of paper.
