So we had our first really warm sunny weekend. It wasn't raining or snowing (like in Salt Lake), or anything. Just really pretty. For all of you who don't know we have some FUGLY bushes around the front and the side of the house. For a while now it's been, let's cut those bushes down, or those bushes have got to go, alas without sunny, and nice weather, yardwork is a no go. Well, they finally did go. Now instead of fugly bushes, we have no bushes, and I started to put in a small garden. This year, I don't really have the time, or the tools to put in a big garden, so I'm doing a little one off the side of the house. Well, it was decided that it should go where the fugly bushes are no longer. Let me tell you how much fun it is to put in a garden, on a piece of land that was previously the home of the fugly bushes, and some very convincing
weeds, with a shovel, and some gardening tools. Next year, I'm going tiller all the way. This shit is ridiculous.
Having said that garden day two did prove extremely more fruitul than garden day one, and now it actually looks like I've done something with it. It took some hard work, but I'm extremely hopeful that we'll get some fresh veggies this year, and have experience when we put in a big garden next year. I also should give credit where credit is due and say that I didn't have anything to do with the actual cutting down of the bushes. Just the digging out of the horrible root system. The cutting down was handled by my two man team, Jeremie and Erik. Good job guys!!! And Erik thought that he was just going to come over and hang out, he he he!
Needless to say, it has been a great weekend, lots of hard work. The house is looking better every day, and we're making our own food. Oh yeah, and I got a nice sunburn to start the year off right. I just hope that it fades by Thursday, so that when I go to Salt Lake for my visit, I don't look like a ripe tomatoe (which I haven't planted yet, but plan to do so). Tomorrow it's more gardening, and a trip to the dump to dispose of the fugly bushes forever.
